Lowdown on the Rundown

The Apache Braves for initiation, ran up to 25 miles. This is with a mouth full of water.

They did not swallow or spit. This proved the discipline and endurance necessary for battle.

                                                                                   --Flex Flynn (All American)

                                                                                     Showdown on Devil's Tower

Here in North America there's a hint of Spring. Not the flower smell or bird songs but the

School Track Teams starting out. They start their jogs through the neighborhood. The

youth dodge un-disciplined dogs seen outrunning them and ignoring the smog.

Track teams that whisk -by are usually all-male or all-female. Most are unaware of how

temporary the companionship and fitness level can be. Their bodies will grow into 200 lbs

from the 120 lb school track team weight. The track team works out after school.

Military Physical Training (P.T.) The field opens up at 6:00 a.m..

All sport has risks. The best-selling author of: The Big Book of Running

died during one of his jogs. What one can gather: Learn about "Target Heart Rate."

Check start time, gear, and train with  a partner, have emergency contact: First  dial (911).

Cell Phones /Smart Watches-set.  Stay Safe! Our school system protects our youth

keeping them in groups during the day hours. So why do adults jog solo in Central Park at night?

Enter Miss Perfect

"Time travel? What if we go back and wind up squeezed into  a Dinosuer's stomach?"

                                                                  -Tina (Miss Perfect)

                                                                    Mystery of the Green Menace

Readers will enjoy Tina. She can easily become one's favorite. She gives the teacher an Apple.

She courts favoritism. Teachers do not like to admit but they have their favorite students.

So where does it leave passionate parents of Home Schooling? Perhaps parents of several

offspring have their favorites also?  Guess who comes in first place?

For the "runners-up" on the  favoritism ladder, it's kinda like being squeezed in a "Dino's stomach."

Year of the Snake

Last week the subject was Tai Chi Chuan. That wonderful art that seems to always take

a backseat in the arts. The art supposedly started with the observation of a dual between a Crane (that

majestic wing bird) and a snake. Biblical students recall the serpent as the instigator in the

Garden of Eden. So, snakes are reviled mostly. Environmentalists determined that snakes should thrive

as a status of our environment.

Tai Chi practitioners state  "It's healthy and for everyone." Yet we only see villagers exhibit.

We almost never see statesmen, professionals and the like in practice. It has it's time and place perhaps?

Enthused Westerners visit the Exotic East and their enthusiasm gets tampered because people

are too busy for Tai Chi exploration and discussion .

It's the Year of the Snake. Admire or hate it, the serpent will never be forgotten.

Disrupters

Bloomington Indiana will certainly be in full bloom as we approach Spring.

It is a College Town. Dining and some unique shops await town visitors.

Some of the handcarved wood furniture and musical instruments are unique

to the area. Lake Monroe provides boating opportunities during the season.

Bloomington is a College town. This means its  a heaven as visitors are surrounded by

youthful  innocence. One can address at another time why students complain of being

broke, yet every town bar is packed after hours?

Now the fun part. Blooming had a couple of Disruptors on it's Campus.

Coach Bobby Knight challenged authority by throwing chairs when

dissatisfied  with his team's performance. How's that for disruption?

Somebody could have just had bleacher seating during the games

perhaps, not facilitating the chair temper tantrums?

H. Prentis Browning held position at the university.

His signature was on grad diplomas. He wrote his name in lower case.

Every school child knows to write their name starting in "Caps."

He featured his as  "h.Prentis Browning." Both had long careers in

leadership still get attention as "Disruptors."

The House Always Wins

Last time we saluted Jeanie. She was our Demo partner. Here is a snippet:

Jeanie toured India "Blowing out several Credit Cards." In her words,

"Yogi are a dime a dozen in India. They perform in Villages and on many streets

for tourists. The practice does not guarantee longevity to age 100. It only provides

a quality of living for now."

Jeanie would be surprised we can still quote her and reverently practice her

Salutation to the Sun Exercise each morning. But at the end of the day, the

Sunsets,  "The House Always Wins."

This Pro Knew How to Pose

Last week's mention of Yoga makes it deserve another look. Jeanie was a Yoga instructor. She

partnered with us for a demonstration. Imagine Martial Arts and Yoga on the same stage.

But this is about Jeanie (Not her real name). She had a plush Yoga Studio with a dedicated clientele.

What is interesting is one is never greeted but pounced on withe words "Shoes off." It was if

the studio was more important than the clientele only seeking stress relief and quality time.

But Jeanie had a secret. She had five kids and would take each one out to dinner each week she stated.

Furthermore her spacious studio and classes included her own family. The Yoga help contain some of

that energy that may have proven disruptive otherwise

Perhaps other Mom's might subscribe? A Soccer mom can only drop-off their child for practice.

Time can be saved by finding a family sport/art. Jeanie made her point: Parents bring the kids with you.

The studio etiquette and Yogi discipline   will  take care of the rest. Jeanie was a Yogi. The Pro knew

how to Pose.
